Long ago, in a beautiful kingdom, there lived a king named Midas, who loved gold more than anything. Every day, he locked himself in a dungeon to count his hidden gold, never sharing it or letting anyone see it. Even his beloved daughter, Marigold, couldn’t convince him to enjoy life’s simple pleasures—like flowers or the beauty of the forest.
One day, King Midas welcomed a strange guest who turned out to be a friend of the Forest God. To thank Midas for his kindness, the Forest God offered him any wish. Without hesitation, Midas wished for a “golden touch” so that everything he touched would turn to gold. The next morning, his wish came true, and he turned his bed, his palace, and even the garden to shimmering gold! But when he tried to eat, his food turned to gold too, leaving him hungry and desperate. Then, disaster struck: he accidentally turned Marigold herself into a golden statue.
Heartbroken, Midas begged the Forest God to undo his wish. Learning that love and family were worth more than all the gold in the world, he was given a magic potion to reverse the spell. After returning everything to its natural state, King Midas never counted his gold again. He learned that true happiness came from family and the beauty around him, and he lived the rest of his days as the happiest king of all.
