1. The Magical Falcon

The Magical Falcon

Moral: We should never make wrong decisions based on greed because it hurts us ultimately.

In a certain village, there lived a poor fisherman. His wife died a few years ago. He had no children, so he lived alone. He used to catch fish from a river near the village and earn his living by selling them in the market. As time went by, he grew old and could not catch fish like he used to. He had no other source of income through which he could earn a living.

One day, the fisherman felt very hungry, but there was no food in his house. So he started walking towards the river, hoping to catch some fish. After going some distance, he saw a falcon injured and lying on the road, moaning in pain. It was no ordinary falcon. Its wings were golden, and blood flowed from its feet.

Seeing the plight of the bird, the fisherman took pity and picked it up. He took the bird home and cured it. Recovering, the falcon was very pleased with the fisherman and thanked him. The fisherman was very surprised to see the falcon talking.

Then the falcon looked around and asked the fisherman, “I don’t see anyone else in your house. Do you live alone?”

The fisherman was disappointed to hear the falcon and slowly nodded his head, yes!

The falcon understood and said, “Friend, looking at your condition, you seem to be very sick. And old too. There is no one to look after you and feed you. What if I feed you daily?”

The fisherman was very happy to hear the falcon. From that day, the falcon used to bring fish for the fisherman every day from the nearby river. This eliminates the fisherman’s problem. His health also started to improve as he got regular food.

Meanwhile, a craving for the falcon’s wings was rising in the fisherman’s mind. He would always look at the falcon’s golden wings and try to snatch them away.

One day, the fisherman came up with a plan to really snatch the wings of the falcon. When the falcon was about to bring the fish, he hid a knife and waited for its arrival. As soon as the falcon reached there, he struck it with the knife. The falcon died there and turned into a pile of ashes!

The fisherman was shocked to see this. Just then, a saint appeared from the pile of ashes. He told the fisherman, “I was turned into a falcon by someone’s curse. I was told that when someone kills me out of greed, I will be freed from the curse. And whoever kills me will be cursed and turned into a falcon. Now, you suffer the consequences of your actions and wait for another greedy person who will kill you because of his greed. Then you too will be freed from this curse!”

As a result of the curse, the fisherman turned into a falcon with golden wings and went out in search of a greedy person!

2. The Blind Vulture

The Blind Vulture

Moral: A stranger should not be trusted easily.

A long time ago, there was a banyan tree in a forest where various birds lived. One day, an old vulture came to take shelter in that tree. The vulture was blind. Seeing his helpless condition, other birds decided to give him shelter and food. The vulture also decided to guard the birds’ babies in return.

This went on for a long time. One day, a cat was passing under the tree. The chirping of baby birds in the tree came to the cat’s ears. When the cat climbed the tree, the baby birds got scared. The vulture came screeching loudly before the cat pounced on the baby birds.

Hearing the sound of the vulture, the cat began to tremble in fear. He realized that to eat the baby birds, he must first make friends with the vulture.

So, as the vulture came before him, he said, “I have heard a lot about your intelligence and big heart from my bird friends. So I have come to meet you!”

Vulture was very happy to hear his praise. He asked the cat, “Who are you?”

The cat replied, “I am a cat.” Hearing this, the vulture was very angry. He said to the cat, “Get out of here at once, or I will kill you.”

The cat was very clever. He told the vulture, “I and my family live across the river. We never eat non-vegetarian food. So please don’t doubt me!”

Hearing the words of the cat, the vulture replied, “How can I believe you? You are a cat, and your habit is to catch and eat small birds!”

The cat, “Uncle Vulture, not all cats are the same. I don’t kill anyone for food. There is plenty of fruit and foliage in the forest to eat. I eat them.”

Then, the vulture trusted the cat. He allowed him to come to the tree. The cat began to come to the tree every day under the pretense of talking with the vulture and caught and ate one chick every day! When the vulture fell asleep, he caught and ate the chicks.

As the number of chicks gradually decreased, the birds became suspicious. They went to the forest to look for their lost children. The cat realized that his lie would be caught now, so he ran away from the forest.

The birds returned to the tree after not finding their children in the forest and found the vulture sleeping. There was a hole in a branch next to where the vulture was sleeping. As the birds peered into the hole, they saw there several bones. These were the bones of the chicks that the cat had eaten.

Seeing the bones, the birds realized that these were their children’s! As the bones were found next to the vulture, they thought that the vulture might have killed and eaten their children. The birds were very angry! All the birds started pecking at the vulture. The vulture died.

Thus, the vulture’s reliance on an unknown cat led to the loss of its own life, first the chicks.

3. The cunning Fox

The cunning Fox

Moral: No matter how hard you try to hide the lie, it will come out.

All the animals lived together happily in a certain forest. The king of the jungle, the lion took special care to ensure the happiness of all the animals in his jungle. Among the animals, there was a fox. He was very cunning! He knew very well how to outsource all his work to others. And he was always relaxing.

One day, while resting, he thought, “I wish I could ensnare the king in the trap of my words and become the minister of this forest!” Thinking about this, the fox approached the king.

Seeing the fox coming, the lion asked, “What’s up, fox? What has been going on?”

The fox, “Your Majesty, you have a lot of responsibility! You can give half of your burden to someone else. You can also get some rest then!”

The lion, “You didn’t say that badly. But is that really possible? Who is there in this jungle who would be able to take on such a big responsibility?

The fox, “Your Majesty, make me minister and give me half of your responsibility.”

The lion liked the proposal and said to the fox, “Okay! Tomorrow, I will make you the minister of the forest in front of everyone!”

The fox was very happy to hear this! The next morning, the lion called all the animals of the forest and said, “I am making the fox the minister of the forest from today for the welfare of the forest.”

All the animals were happy with the lion’s words, but a jackal laughed and said, “I have no objection to your decision, but I have some doubts about the fox. Will he really do something or just relax?”

The fox got angry and planned to take revenge for the jackal’s behavior. That night, the fox stole three pieces of meat from the lion’s den and hid them in the jackal’s den!

When the lion came to know about the theft, he called all the animals in the forest and informed them that some pieces of meat had been stolen from his cave.

Hearing this, the fox said, “Your Majesty, I think the jackal did the theft. Yesterday, I saw him take some things from your cave.”

Hearing this, the jackal said, “No, My Lord. I have not stolen anything. You can search my house if you want.”

Then the lion calmed the two and said, “Let the one who stole come and return the pieces of meat himself. If not, I will punish him severely.”

None of the animals responded. Everyone went back to their homes. The jackal returned to his cave and saw that the pieces of stolen meat were kept in his cave. Seeing this, he became very worried and reached the lion’s den with the pieces.

He said, “My lord, I got these pieces of meat from my cave. But I did not steal anything. Please give me one day to prove myself innocent. And for this, I need your help.”

The lion, “Okay, jackal. I’ll give you one day. And I’m ready to help you. But I also have a condition!”

Jackal, “What conditions, Your Majesty?”

The lion, “The condition is that if you are not proven innocent, you must leave this forest!”

The jackal, “Okay, My Lord. I agree with your condition. You please come behind the fox’s cave tomorrow morning. You will know all the truth.”

The next day, the jackal went to the fox and said, “I have not stolen anything.”

The fox, “Look jackal, the stolen things were found in your cave. So how can I believe that you did not do the theft?”

The jackal, “Dear Fox, I have come to you for help, but you think I am a thief!”

The fox, “But jackal, how can I help you?”

The jackal, “If you can somehow find the person who stole those four pieces, I’m saved!”

The fox, “Four pieces? But there were only three pieces of meat! Where did another piece come from?”

The jackal, “How did you know that? His Majesty did not say anything about how many pieces there were. You did not steal so?”

Hearing this, the fox realized that his lie had been caught. He said, “You are right, jackal! I removed those pieces of meat from His Majesty’s cave and put them in your cave.”

Hearing this, the lion came forward from behind the cave and said, “How did you do this? I trusted you and made you my minister.”

Seeing the lion, the fox got very scared and said, “Your Majesty, forgive me. I did this to take revenge on the jackal.”

The Lion, “I can’t forgive you. You did wrong, so you must get the punishment. And your punishment is that you have to leave this forest forever.”

Hearing the verdict of the lion, the fox left the forest crying forever. Thus the jackal was proved innocent, and the fox reaped the fruits of his deeds.

4. The Cruel Lion

The Cruel Lion

A ferocious lion lived in a deep forest. He used to kill different animals every day to satisfy his hunger. All the animals of the forest trembled in fear of him. None of them could roam in peace. They feared that if the lion continued to eat them like this, there would not be a single animal left in the forest. So all the animals met in the forest to find a solution to this dire problem.

Fox, “If the evil lion continues to eat everyone like this, the day will soon come when none of us will be left alive.”

Bear, “This wicked lion has eaten my wife. (Crying)”

Monkey, “Don’t cry friend, this lion must be taught a lesson!”

Fox, “Dear friends, I will go to the lion tomorrow and talk about this problem. Let’s see if there is a way!”

The next day, the fox went to the lion and said, “Your Majesty, you are the king of this jungle, and we are your subjects. If you kill us all, over whom will you rule?”

Hearing the words of the fox, the lion got worried!

Fox, “I have a way. If you agree, then every day, from tomorrow an animal from among us will appear in front of you as your food!”

Lion, “Okay. But one thing must be taken care of. If any animal does not appear before me any day, I will start catching and eating all of you again!”

Fox, “Relax, your majesty! We will not give you any chance to complain!”

Saying this, the fox left from there. And from then on every day an animal reached the lion as his feast. This also benefited the lion because he no longer had to roam around in search of prey.

One day, it was a little rabbit’s turn to be the lion’s food. The poor rabbit didn’t want to be eaten by the lion. He found a way to save himself. He walked slowly and reached the lion too late. The lion was waiting for him for a long time.

Reaching the lion, he said, “My lord, why are you so angry? Please don’t be angry with me! Actually, the fox brother had sent six rabbits as your food, but a wicked lion caught and killed them all on the way! I managed to escape with great difficulty.

Hearing the rabbit, the lion got very angry and said, “Tell me, who has divided my food? Who dares to touch my food?”

Rabbit, “Majesty, I told him a lot not to touch our majesty’s prey. But the lion did not listen!”

Hearing this, the lion got very angry and roared angrily, “Take me to that lion at once. I will kill him today. I am the only king of this jungle!”

Let’s go! Saying this, the clever rabbit led the lion to a well and said, “Your Majesty, the lion is hiding inside this well!”

The lion peered into the well. Assuming his reflection in the water as the other lion, he said, “And you are the lion who took my food from me? I will not leave you alive today!”

The lion’s roar echoed in the well. And the anger of the lion increased. Without thinking anything, he jumped into the well and drowned in the water in no time.

When the rabbit told all the animals about the death of the lion, everyone admired the rabbit’s intelligence!

5. Friendship

Friendship

Moral: Any action should be done thoughtfully.

There was an ancient well in a deep forest. Many frogs lived in that well. Among them, one of the frogs was named Bogart. The other frogs in the well often made fun of him, which annoyed Bogart too much! One day, he got fed up with everyone and decided to teach them all.

He thought, “First, getting out from this well, I need to befriend a strong animal, and then, I have to teach them a proper lesson with its help!”

With this in mind, he came out of the well and sat on the bank of the well and was waiting for a strong animal. At that time, he saw a snake coming towards him. Bogart’s heart was filled with joy at the sight of him. He knew that this horrible snake could destroy all his enemies!

Thinking this, Bogart appeared to the terrible snake and said to him, “My name is Bogart. I want to be your friend. Will you be my friend?”

The snake hissed, “What did you say? You want to be friends with me?”

Bogart, “Yes friend, you heard it right! I want to be your friend.”

The snake was surprised, “This is the first time in my life I have heard and seen a frog trying to make friends with a snake! Don’t you know that the taste of frogs is so favorite to snakes?”

Bogart, “I know! I still want to be your friend because we both benefit from this friendship!”

Snake, “What’s in it for me?”

Bogart, “I’ve got quite a few enemies in the well I live in. I’m fed up with their pranks. They make my life hell.”

Snake, “So what can I do about it?

Bogart, “I’ll take you to that well. You eat my enemies. You’ll have a good meal, and my enemies will die!”

Snake, “That’s great! You just tell me the way to the well because I can’t swim. Then watch how all your enemies get killed!”

Bogart, “Okay, friend. I will tell you the way to the well so that you can get into the well easily. But be aware that my good relatives live there as well as my enemies. I will tell you which frogs to kill!”

The snake thought to himself and said, “Hey, you take me to the well once. Then I’ll pick and eat the frogs.”

Bogart then led the monstrous snake to the well and showed him the way. The next day, Bogart came into the well with the snake. Bogart’s enemy frogs all trembled at the sight of such a terrible snake. Bogart was pointing the snake at his enemies. The snake started hunting two or three frogs every day.

The snake swallowed all of Bogart’s enemies. Thus he became addicted to eating frogs. He even started eating Bogart’s relatives, hiding it from him!

One day, Bogart found out about this and said, “Dude, what did you start? You’re killing my relatives too? I told you to eat only my enemies, not my relatives!”

Snake, “Dear friend, I have eaten all the frogs in the well as you said. You brought me here, so it is your duty to feed me. Or I will eat you too haha!”

Bogart realized his life was in trouble, but he was very smart. He found a way to save his life. He said to the snake, “Okay, friend. I am arranging more food for you. But for that, I have to go out of the well.”

Snake, “Why?”

Bogart, “You know all the frogs in this well are gone. I will go to another well and make friends with the frogs there and lure them here.”

Snake, “And if you don’t come back then where will I look for you? Rather, I go with you!”

Bogart, “Hey what are you talking about? No one will be friends with me if you are with me! Don’t worry at all. Just be patient. I will arrange food for you here.”

Snake, “Okay, friend!” The snake accepted his words.

Bogart escaped from the well. He wondered how dangerous a mistake he had made by trusting the snake!

He thought, “If I could not get out of the well, the terrible snake would have eaten me too!”
